HGUC RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type

Finally had time for Gunpla!

This package just so happens to arrive after 2 months of waiting ( I still have a pending one, but that will be for another day :S ) I was excited to have this having to endure that long wait for one of my favorite mobile suits. Overall I was happy with the results. Hooray for the 08th MS Team!!

Here's a 360 view of the built kit without the stickers (except for the eyes).

Articulation

I was really impressed by its articulation.

  • The arms are double jointed and bend almost 90 degrees.
  • The knees are double jointed and can do a little more than  120 degrees.
  • The ankles are on a ball joint and can rotate 360 just because the ankle guard is pegged on the foot itself so it doesn't affect the ankle's motion.

You will be able to do a lot of poses with this mobile suit.

Accessories

This doesn't come with much of it, but the few that it has pretty much makes up for it.
  • Shield
  • Machine Gun and Artillery Cannon
  • Backpack
  • Beam Sabers (2)

Classic kneeling pose with the artillery cannon

This is how you disassemble the artillery cannon.. You might ask.. "For what?"

For this..

Disassembled and in the tray

The snappers on the backpack should be like this to accomodate the backpack..

And Voila!

I did mention it has 2 beam sabers.. But where's the other one.. If you did watch the series then you should already know by now.

The right calf can also open like a trapdoor and house the other beam saber handle.

Okay.. my HGUC Gouf Custom looks much happier seeing its nemesis!

Feedback

This is definitely a bang for the buck! Its simplicity makes it special. The details are decent, but heck, it doesn't have much to work with anyway. Articulations are an instant win for it and love the big gun!

Let me point out one negative though and a very annoying one.. The hands. You will be frustrated with positioning the two hands to handle the artillery cannon. Its not the weight issues.. Its just how the 2 split parts of the hand peg with each other. Its just loose.

Other than that this kit is perfect replacement for the decade old Master Grade.

Thanks for your time guys. Hopefully can update this soon after painting! See ya around.
