Review: HGUC Geara Zulu (Angelo Sauper use)

Finished snap building the kits in 4-5 hrs. But i haven't applied the stickers yet. My plan is to use them for masking, when i paint it.

Heres a short clip if you dont want to scroll below :)

Here are a few more poses

A 360 view of the kit :)

Bottomline:

As mentioned in the Review Video.. I wasn't expecting much from this kit as I have already seen multiple reviews.. and this didn't look great out of the box (from their videos). But in person, I think this kit is pretty decent. In fact, its already growing on me and would probably rate it at least a 6 out of 10 for HGs.

PROs
  • The colors and color schem are awesome and didn't look "toyish" though i haven't put in the dreaded white foil stickers.
  • The dirty yellow parts are separate and not stickers
  • Very articulate even the torso has some range of movement.
  • Has a lot of potential for painting.
  • I like the Beam Cannon!
CONs
  • A LOT of foil stickers!
  • Limited accessories
  • Beam cannon has no storage mode
  • Anly good for a number of poses

That's it for the mean time while I plan on how i can make this look a bit better. Feel free to comment and suggest as it would help me out a lot on my new endeavor.

Unboxing: HGUC Geara Zulu Angelo Sauper Custom

Purple is the new black! And here comes the Geara Zulu Custom of Angelo Sauper.

For some reason I seem to be hooked to grunt HGs nowadays, though this one seems to standout for me because of several reasons..
  • Its from the Unicorn OVA (which really is turning into my MOST favorite series)
  • Color scheme looks great
  • Big Gun!!
  • To be honest I was looking for another kit, but this one was the last on the shelf. So my instinct was to "Hoard" this one! lol

I've seen the reviews of this kit and they weren't pleasant especially if you are planning an out-of-the-box build only. All the white parts (and even the black) are basically stickers. The colors seem to be a bit bland as well. But I'll see it for myself and hopefully get a decent build.

You can check this short clip as well

Hope to build this kit in a couple of days and I will post a review soon.

Finished: HGUC Geara Doga (Custom Full Frontal)

I decided to paint my Geara Doga and make my own version of a Full Frontal Custom. It was said that Full Frontal breached Anaheim Electronics on this MS to steal the Sinanju Stein. So i really imagined what Full Frontal's Geara Doga would be like.

There are some scratches already on the paintjob, the reason is it has been on my shelf for a couple of weeks now and.. though the articulation and the moving parts are great, its just more reason for parts to scratch.

I used all Tamiya acrylics on this one.

  • Gloss Black
  • Chrome Silver
  • Clear Orange (on what used to be Dark Green parts) and then Clear Red after
  • Clear Red (on what used to be Light Green parts)

 Articulations:

I'll add some articulated poses since i wasn't able to post on my previous one.

Believe it or not you'll only be able to move the arms sideways this high. This is only due to the armor design.

Did you see what i did there? You can actually rotate the shoulder armor and be able to raise it a bit higher.

The shoulders can really swivel front and back with a lot of range. Impressed!

Head can tilt up this far. It is double jointed so it can chicken head a bit. Plus the mono-eye can be moved as well.

Also impressed how far it can do the splits, just a shame that the ankle armor restricts so much range of movement on the feet even though its double jointed.

And here's some more pics just to round it off.

This was my 2nd painted kit and did have a lot of bloopers here and there, but pretty much happy with the results for a novice. :)

Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions.
