Review: HGUC 1/144 Geara Doga

Just wanted to post this kit that I finished around a month ago.

This is a grunt unit from Char's Counterattack, and can be seen in the squad led by Rezin Schnyder. Though i don't have the blue version of this kit which was customized for Rezin (I didn't see much difference except for the rifle).

It came with the sticker for the Neo-Zeon emblem on the shield and a red dot for the Mono-Eye, which i didn't bother using.

The articulations are pretty good though i apologize i wasn't able to display much of it.

  • Head - double jointed and can "chicken head" a bit
  • Shoulders - can swivel back and forth , rotate 360, the shoulder armors are also pegged into an inner shoulder ball so they are independent and move around much.
  • Elbows - single jointed but allow plenty range of movement
  • Torso - just on a peg so just 360 rotation
  • Skirts - Front can move up and down and i think can be cut in the middle so they can move independently. Side skirts are on a peg and can move up and down.
  • Hip Joint - is the new design like in the 00 HGs, it can swivel from side to side thus allowing plenty range of movement.
  • Knees - surprisingly can bend a lot but just hindered by the design of the armor.
  • Ankles - on a double joint and can move back and forth a bit and rotate. Again movements are just hindered by the armor design.
Thoughts

  • Articulations - Great for a HG, plenty of movable stuff.
  • Colors - Awesome, Simple, yet very strong appeal
  • Accesories - Great , Rifle, Shield and theres like missiles that can snap on the shield, (i'll show in the finished build a bit later) and beam axe, blade with handle. good amount accessories for the price.
  • Price - SRP 1800 yen - i think you can get this much cheaper in other stores with discounts. But it should be just right on the spot with the new engineering that comes along with the recent HGs. Totally worth it.

Overall the kit is worth getting if you are a CC fan, It actually looks great of of the box. Surprising for a grunt unit.

Let me know if there are clarifications, comments and suggestions. Will try to update this with other poses if anyone needs.
